Artwork FAQ's & Setup Costs

We have covered this in the FAQ box on the home page, but we'll delve into it a little more to help give a better understanding of what files we use, and any additional costs which may incur on your order.

If you’d like us to use your own artwork, you can either email it to us or upload it through the submission portal we’ll provide. If you’d prefer text instead of a logo, just include the wording and any style requirements in your order.

Different products require different processes, so it’s important that the artwork you supply matches the engraving method being used. To help with this, we accept the following formats:

Vector files (.eps, .pdf, .ai etc.)

Raster (pixel-based) files (.png, .jpg, .tiff)

For the best results, we recommend properly constructed vector files. These should have text converted to outlines and no open paths. Please avoid effects such as gradients or transparencies, as these don’t always translate well into engraving software.

If you can’t provide a suitable vector file, a high-quality raster image will also work. In many cases, we’ll need to upscale or adjust raster artwork to improve resolution and achieve a smoother finish, but the end result depends on the quality of the original file. We’ll always discuss this with you before going ahead.

If you don’t have a logo or artwork at all, or you need us to extract your artwork from your website or social media, then please let us know as we may still be able to help create something suitable.

Once we receive your file, we carefully review it to ensure it’s laser-ready. If adjustments are needed, we’ll optimise it using professional software and other design tools to make sure it engraves cleanly and looks its best.

We’ll then place the artwork on a digital mock-up of your chosen product so you can check the size, placement and orientation. When needed, we’ll send you a proof to approve before we proceed.

Finally, we import the design into our engraving software, fine-tune the settings for the material being used and run test engravings when necessary to guarantee the highest quality.

Why We Charge a Setup Fee

Preparing artwork for engraving isn’t as simple as pressing a button. It takes time, care, and the use of specialised software and skills. Depending on the file, setup can take anywhere from 20 minutes to over an hour.

Each job is fully customised to your product, and this process ensures the end result is clean, precise and professional.

For this reason, we charge a one-time artwork setup fee. The good news is that once your design is set up, we can usually reuse it for future orders without charging you again.

In some cases, the fee may not be necessary, while more complex artwork may require a higher fee. It all depends on the file type, logo design and the amount of preparation required.

We’ll always confirm the setup requirements and costs with you after reviewing your artwork. The fee starts at £15 and is capped at £40.
